Dan McKeage, Jr. broke barriers at Wiscasset Speedway in 2024, becoming just the third driver in track history to win 2 division championships in a single season. Following the conclusion of the season, he also received “Driver of the Year” honors at both the track and the Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame banquet.
Reflecting back on last year, Dan shares, “Drowning out the noise and staying in the moment allowed me the opportunity to enjoy going to the track every week with my friends and family. Winning two championships in a year is awesome but doing that with the people who’ve supported me my whole career is even better”.
This year, the Naughty 40 team will be growing as they field another Strictly Street with Amara Parker behind the wheel. Dan Jr. and team will help with the car setup every week, transportation to and from the track, tips and tricks on race day and more. It’s going to be a great way to build the team and make use of the race-winning car formerly piloted by Dan’s twin brother and now-spotter, Shawn.
Last season truly exceeded Dan’s expectations and although it can be tough for some drivers to repeat success, he is up for the challenge. Dan has put in the work over the course of the off-season, analyzing old races and in-car video on YouTube to help better understand his driving style and car changes throughout different races. Consistency was the name of the game in 2024 and Dan hopes to build upon this in 2025.
Although he secured the Pro Stock championship last season, Dan surprisingly never picked up a feature win in the track’s premier division. “In the Pro Stock, I want to improve on longer distance races like the Shipbuilders Pro Stock 100 and the Boss Hogg 150. With last year’s 100 being shortened due to rain and being wrecked out of the 150, I’d definitely like to see some better results in the open races”, he shares.
As we grow closer and closer to the beginning of the season, Dan is growing more and more locked in and he couldn’t do it without the support of his many sponsors, friends and family, as well as Tony Ricci with the Pro Stock setup, Jeff Burgess with the Strictly Street body and Dan McKeage, Sr. with the setup, Connor and Greg at Eleveight Design for his Pro Stock wrap and more.
Catch Dan McKeage, Jr. and the Norm’s Used Cars Pro Stocks as the Group 1 season kicks off on Saturday, April 19th. The green flag flies at 2:00 pm!
