Wiscasset Speedway is home to 9 different divisions, leaving plentiful room for drivers to change classes when desired. 2025 is certain to be another season of change as we will see multiple competitors mixing things up in order to advance their individual racing careers.
The Brackett’s Market 4-Cylinder Pro division will see a lot of shake-ups as defending division champion Ben Burgess, who won an impressive 8 feature races in 2024, will be moving to the Strictly Streets. John Ricci also achieved success last season, picking up 2 feature victories. Ricci will be joining the track’s newest weekly division, the Davis Erector Group Crate Modifieds. Multiple go-kart drivers from LST Motorsports Park will also be joining the pack this season, including Adam Taylor, Dylan Anderson, Rowdy Romano, and Emmett Walker, among others.
In addition to Ben Burgess moving into the Portland Glass Strictly Streets, we’ll see another competitor returning to the track after being sidelined for the majority of last season due to a serious off-track injury. Wiscasset Speedway is excited to welcome back Wade Kennedy, who will be piloting the #00 machine once again. Amara Parker, the 2023 Ladies Division champion at Oxford Plains Speedway, will also be shifting gears this season and joining the Strictly Streets.
The ‘Burgess’ name is already synonymous with Wiscasset Speedway, but we’ll be seeing a bit more of the family this season in the Wood Pellet Warehouse Late Models. Jeff Burgess will be returning to the division while his son Chase acclimates himself to the car. Jeff’s cousin Ashton is also moving into the division after fielding a Strictly Street over the past couple of seasons. In the words of Ashton Burgess, “It is super cool that I’ll be able to race against both of my cousins, especially after seeing the progress of both cars from start to finish. It should be a very fun summer, and I can’t wait to get started”. Seasoned veteran and ⅓ of the Black Flagged Podcast, Charlie Sanborn, will also be joining the Late Models this year. Although a full season is not probable, Charlie is looking forward to returning to the coast when the timing is right.
Other familiar names mixing things up include Nick Morton, who is moving to the Late Models and David Greenleaf, who will continue his voyage in the Super Streets but will also be joining the T&L Automotive Modifieds. Former Oxford Plains Speedway Ladies Division and Rookies champion Maddy Herrick is also excited to begin her journey at Wiscasset Speedway this season in the Super Streets.
Unlike past years, a lot of change isn’t expected in the Norm’s Used Cars Pro Stocks this season, but you never know who will join the roster come Opening Day, trying their hand at Maine’s biggest and fastest speedway.
Catch a piece of the action on Group 1 Opening Day on Saturday, April 19th. The green flag flies at 2:00 pm!
